PRODUCT INFORMATION
This is a PATTERN for a cinch sack. The bag is seamless, and works up quickly. Work them up in a variety of colors, for both boys and girls. If you want a bigger bag, just cast on more stitches. If you use solid colored yarn, make the bag more interesting by using a fluffy or sparkly yarn for the shell stitches at the top.
This bag is designed in using modular garter stitch: a divided square, which is a technique described in detail in the book “Number Knitting,” by Virginia Woods Bellamy. There are two options for the top: knitted and crocheted. The knitted top is inspired by Elizabeth Zimmerman, and is made using a sideways top, one-row buttonholes, and knitted-in I-cord edging.
The body of the bag is all knit. There are three different options for the top of the bag: 2 knitted, and 1 crocheted.
This is a great use for scrap yarn!
